The Exodus of Skilled Labour and Management
We got a great response to last week’s email regarding the exodus of skilled labour and management back to main land Europe. Clients and Interims have responded in force telling us it’s their number one challenge.
Here’s a couple of strategies that will help turn this challenge in to success:
Retain and develop the team
- Staff retention, labour turnover and similar KPI’s need to be owned by the department heads as well as being centre stage in management review meetings.
- Implement an effective development and appraisal system.
- Launch an apprenticeship strategy.
- Implement a succession plan from Key Skills up to Exec Positions.
- Communicate regularly to your team – Consider Daily, Weekly and quaterly briefs.
- Multi skill your team to ensure they can cover each other’s areas, processes, departments etc.
Attract the best
You are one of a many company trying to attract the best so position yourself as an employer of choice.
- Support your local and wider community to establish your reputation as a successful and caring company.
- Have a leading benefits package – Work place Pension, Salary, Holidays, relocation etc
- Offer flexible working.
- Have an excellent development programme.
- Target local schools, colleges and Universities.
- Target non eu destinations.
- Use social media to target preferred demographics
We hope you find this useful.
